As great as DreamWorks has become over time when it comes to original movies, they still really love to make sequels. While people fret that Pixar is losing something by green-lighting their fourth sequel with Finding Nemo, DreamWorks seems to turn every movie into a franchise. A Croods sequel is the next to see the light of day.

The Croods was a surprise hit movie this year for DreamWorks Animation. It seemed the company turned on the red alert sign when the fantastic Rise of the Guardians didn’t set the world on fire during its opening weekend, but it seemed to pick up steam as the holiday season wore on. However, The Croods was a huge success, making an impressive $385 million domestically.

That means the Croods sequel joins Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, Madagascar and How to Train Your Dragon as DreamWorks franchises to get follow up movies.

Don’t be surprised it there isn’t a cartoon coming soon to join Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, Penguins of Madagascar and Dragons: Riders of Berk. DreamWorks loves to make money by squeezing everything it can out of all its properties.
