Right now millions of viewers are glued to their TV’s on Monday nights for season two of Bates Motel. Those viewers will be glad to know that they will be able to tune in again for another season! The 10-episode renewal for the season three of the popular A&E drama Bates Motel will begin filming this fall.

Almost one year ago to the day, I wrote about the renewal of this new series for season two, yet here am I again excited to announce its renewal for season three! As a lover of Hitchcock and thriller movies, I was so glad when this show began. What a great idea I thought; Norman Bates back in the day doing the Norman thing. I thought it would be great to learn how Norman Bates became the killer we all saw in the Hitchcock classic Psycho in 1960. Boy, was I right – this show is a hit!

There are some out there who may disagree and think that Bates Motel is “boring” or not what they had hoped for, but over 4 million viewers would disagree! The season two premiere landed 4.6 million viewers and the series is considered a top drama A&E series in those aged 18 – 49.

So, what are we hoping for in season three of Bates Motel? That is actually a really hard question to answer until we complete season two. Everything that I may hope for in the next season is based on what happens in this one and what I hope for might come true first. Right?

We have seen a lot of people come and go already in this series. Deputies, teachers, fathers…not necessarily at the deadly hand of Norman Bates; however, this drama does not pull any punches when it comes to killing off characters. It also provides a lot of surprises. Sure, you may think you know what is going to happen and then boom – wrong! Or, maybe you were right, but the way it happens is what brings the element of surprise.

The casting in Bates Motel is perfect and I gain new respect for those on the show every time that I watch it. The three main characters of Norma, Norman, and Dylan are played by Vera Farmiga, Freddie Highmore, and Max Thieriot. These three make up a great main cast and play their parts beyond perfection.  If one could claim a star in those three it would have to be Freddie Highmore as Norman Bates, for obvious reasons. He is the star of the show, gives viewers exactly the type of character that they need to see, and does it without viewers questioning him.

Are you excited and ready to sign up – or check in – for another season of Bates Motel? I know I am and I will be right here providing the recaps and analyses when that time comes!
