As if a Constantine TV show based on the Hellblazer character wasn’t exciting enough, the word just came down that Neil Marshall will direct the Constantine pilot. For those who don’t recognize the name, Marshall directed the awesome Dog Soldiers and The Descent as well as the “Blackwater” episode of Game of Thrones.

To put it bluntly, Neil Marshall is one of the best directors working today and he doesn’t get enough publicity for his work.

David Goyer got the series rolling as he is controlling the output of DC Comics film and television work now, and co-wrote the pilot episode alongside Daniel Cerone (Dexter). Now that Marshall has signed on to direct the Constantine pilot, I am completely sold.

John Constantine is a supernatural detective who is stuck between Heaven and Hell, an individual that neither side wants. He appeared in a movie with Keanu Reeves’ miscast in an otherwise very fun movie. His comic appearances have been in his own series, Hellblazer, and he has also been a supporting cast member in Swamp Thing and Justice League: Dark.

With the new Constantine TV show, the status of the character’s involvement in the Guillermo Del Toro Justice League: Dark project Heaven Sent is in question. Honestly, if Neil Marshall can do what I think he can on the Constantine pilot, I can live with Del Toro leaving him out of the movie.

Let us know your thoughts on the Constantine pilot news. Is Neil Marshall a good choice? Does it make you more or less excited to see the movie? Chime in below.
