In an recent interview with James Marsden, he expressed interest in coming back into the X-Men franchise in the still in development X-Men:  Apocalypse.  This news should be taken with a grain of salt though, since his reaction was rather noncommittal and he himself rightfully points out in the interview that it’s “way too early” for that kind of speculation. Nevertheless, I think I’ll do it anyway.

James Marsden CyclopsPersonally, I would love for Cyclops to find his way back into the franchise.  I thought he was a great character in the first two movies and his off-screen death in X-Men: The Last Stand was a complete disservice.  I was actually hoping that Cyclops would be able to come back in Days of Future Past but sadly Marsden’s scheduling conflicts with Anchorman 2 made that difficult.  I haven’t completely lost hope that he could make a surprise cameo appearance not unlike what Hugh Jackman did in First Class.

I’m sure director Bryan Singer would be open to either possibility since Marsden has already worked with him outside of the X-Men films in Superman Return.  Also, returning a comic book character from the dead isn’t exactly uncharted territory and especially not with Marvel characters.

Do you think the James Marsden Cyclops should be resurrected into the X-Men films?  Give us your thoughts in the comment section below.
