DC Comics has been working hard at building their television empire, and while almost anything they announce was dwarfed by the Marvel Netflix news from yesterday, they still have some announcements for their faithful. Hourman is coming to The CW!

Hello?

OK, so while a lot of people joke that the Netflix news includes lesser known characters, almost all comic book fans I know have a familiarity with Luke Cage and Iron Fist and everyone freaking knows Daredevil.

Hourman?

Yeah… DC Comics has Arrow, their Green Arrow show which is a pretty great followup to Smallville, which was about Superman. They also have shows coming about Flash, which will spin off of Arrow, Constantine – which people know from its movie – and a Gotham City police show in the world of Batman.

Then their next two announcements were for The Avenger, a pulp hero from the Golden Age that no one has heard of, and Hourman, only DC Comics diehards who love the Justice Society of America has heard of.

Check out the press release synopsis:

Hourman centers on a brilliant-yet-troubled pharmaceutical analyst who discovers that the visions that have plagued him since childhood are actually glimpses of tragic events occurring one hour in the future. Determined to win back his ex-wife and son, he heroically prevents these tragedies from unfolding, finding both purpose and redemption along the way.

Arrow is succeeding because it was a known hero with a great story to keep fans hooked after giving it a chance. Flash, Gotham City, and even Constantine will bring in the curious and give DC a chance to win them over. But, The Avenger and Hourman? It seems like they are just throwing anything at the wall to see what sticks.
