James Spader is all over the news right now, which is awesome because the guy is one of the best actors out there today. His TV show, The Blacklist, is one of this fall’s most anticipated new shows and he is also going to voice the evil Ultron in the 2015 Marvel film, Avengers: The Age of Ultron. James Spader as Ultron: not bad for the guy who broke out in Pretty in Pink.

The fact that he is voicing one of the most despicable villains in Avengers comic book history is a geek-out moment, and the fact that Spader has just been lounging around television for the last decade shouldn’t worry anyone either since he picked up three Emmys for his work on Boston Legal with Captain Kirk during that time.

One person who is not worried at all is Avengers director Joss Whedon.

Spader was my first and only choice. He’s got that hypnotic voice that can be eerily calm and compelling, but he’s also very human and humorous. Ultron is not Hal. Spader can play all of the levels. He’s the guy to break The Avengers into pieces. Muwahaha.

Of course, anyone who was worrying has never seen James Spader’s work. The guy is just full of awesome sauce. Check out the video with Joss Whedon’s comments about James Spader as Ultron below.
