Renegade Cinema reported last week that Man of Steel director Zack Snyder felt a Man of Steel sequel should come before any thoughts of a Justice League movie. Now, it looks like his wish will come true. According to Deadline Hollywood, a Man of Steel sequel is already underway and both director Zack Snyder and writer David S. Goyer are returning.

Zack Snyder’s exact words last week was that:

“Look … completely hypothetically, I feel like you need … to get Superman a little further down the road, I think, before you can do a Justice League movie.”

This  makes a lot of sense because, from what I understand, they don’t plan to use Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Batman, so a new Batman needs to be introduced before the Justice League movie. They also need to fix the public disatisfaction with The Green Lantern and re-introduce both Wonder Woman and Flash to the younger generation.

If it was me, I would make a Superman/Batman movie before I made Justice League as well, to get that dynamic out of the way so it doesn’t over-crowd the Justice League movie. What is unknown right now is where Snyder and Goyer takes Superman from here. I think a Superman sequel is a great move, and this is the only way DC Comics can compete with Marvel, by building their universe piece-by-piece.
