Pretty much all that has been revealed about Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is the actors cast to play the heroes, the mysterious casting of J. August Richards as a superhero, and the general plot line. However, Joss Whedon is not about “stories of the week” and likes his big bad, and new Taskmaster casting rumors might have revealed a clue in that direction.

Taskmaster castingThe casting was for Travis Love, the actor who played Bowman, part of the Governor’s group of thugs. Now, Love has been cast inĀ Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Tony Masters, who is of course the super villain Taskmaster.

In the comics, Taskmaster is one of the baddest villains in Marvel Comics. He can watch someone fight and use his photographic memory to memorize their fighting patterns, making him almost unbeatable. He could also perfectly mimic a superheroes fighting style after watching them only once.

For comic nerds like me, this also makes me wonder if they might consider bringing in Marc Specter, the superhero known as Moon Knight. He is one of Taskmaster’s biggest rivals, and both of them have loose ties to S.H.I.E.L.D. in the comics. I only ask because Moon Knight remains one of my favorite Marvel characters, and seeing him show up would be the highlight of the show for me.

Make it happen Joss.
