After the giant Avengers vs. X-Men comic book series, the thoughts of the two teams meeting on the big screen is intriguing. Of course, with Fox owning the rights to X-Men and Marvel controlling The Avengers, there is a very slim chance (read: none) of that ever happening. No way Fox lets go of X-Men.
However, one person who would love to see an Avengers vs. X-Men story happen is involved closely with one of those successful franchises. Hugh Jackman, the only actor who has appeared in EVERY X-Men movie Fox has produced, said he would love to see the two teams lock horns.
“I actually just asked the other day, I said, ‘I don’t know what the legal situation is, but why don’t these companies come together? Why isn’t it possible?’ Because personally, I would love to mix it up with Robert Downey Jr. and Iron Man and kick his ass,” Jackman told Screen Rant. “It’d be great.”
Of course, it will take a lot more than just an actor with a dream project to get Marvel and Fox to work hand-in-hand on a movie together, although I would almost guarantee that an Avengers and X-Men combination movie could break even the box office totals of The Avengers.
However, there is a small chance it could happen one day. X-Men executive producer Lauren Shuler Donner said she would like to do something along those lines as well, and actually worked with Marvel’s Kevin Feige in the ’90s.
“I loved The Avengers. I love what they do with it. Kevin Feige, by the way, I can tell you is one of the true gentlemen of this business,” Donner said. “I’m basically really happy and proud of what he’s achieved. I think he’s making great movies. People love them. And consistency is incredible. So, who wouldn’t want to be involved with that?”
No, its nothing that leads one to believe it could ever happen, but as a life-long Marvel fan, who wouldn’t dream of an Avengers vs. X-Men movie?
