At WonderCon on Saturday, while promoting his upcoming Pacific Rim, Guillermo del Toro also fielded questions about the Dark Universe film he’s developing with Warner Bros. Dark Universe is of course the working title for his superhero film based on the supernatural characters of the DC Comics Universe, specifically Justice League Dark.

Guillermo del Toro has apparently completed a story bible for the film, which will follow Hellblazer star John Constantine as he recruits other “dark” heroes to combat a medieval threat related to the conflict between Jason Blood and the villain Merlin. The film would also include Deadman, Swamp Thing, The Spectre, and Zatanna.

This all sounds too good to be true to me. And with Guillermo del Toro’s notorious project-hopping I’m gonna go ahead and file this under “believe it when I see it.” Not unexpectedly, del Toro is booked up with projects for the next five years. Right now, we wouldn’t see a  Dark Universe movie until after a reported horror project called Crimson Peak is completed.

Am I the only one that liked the 2005 Keanu Reeves Constantine movie? It was great if you don’t give a shit about the comic. And also Shia LaBeouf gets killed in it, something three Transformers movies couldn’t do.
