Thomas Kretschmann (Dracula) has already been cast as Baron von Strucker in Avengers: Age of Ultron but it now appears that his role in the Marvel universe is bigger than originally expected. As it turns out, Kretschmann’s contract is for multiple films which has naturally led to some speculation about where Strucker’s will be showing up after Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Some have speculated that he could make a post-credits appearance in Captain America: Winter Soldier but I don’t really see it. Kretschmann’s casting was fairly recent and it seems a little late in the game to insert him in the movie now. They more or less did the same thing with Hawkeye in Thor and it ended up making the editing for that scene look very clunky. Also, I think it’s kind of pointless to build up the character just to have him play what’s said to be a rather small role in Age of Ultron.
My best guess is that he plays a larger role in the eventual Captain America 3. He could serve as something a recurring thorn in Captain America’s side much in the same way Loki is to Thor.
Do you think Baron von Strucker would make a good recurring villain for Captain America? Will he be making an appearance Winter Soldier? Give us your thoughts in the comment section below.
