Some of you probably already knew that HYDRA leader Baron Wolfgang von Strucker was likely going to be the secondary villain in Avengers: Age of Ultron.  However, we now have a face to attach to the character as Thomas Kretschmann (TV’s Dracula) has been cast in the role.

While it appears that his initial appearance will be in the Avengers 2, the deal he has signed is reportedly for several films so the summer of 2015 may not be the last we see of the ageless villain and it’s already being speculated that he might be making an appearance in the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

While he certainly would make for a promising recurring villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I really don’t think it would be a good idea to put him in Winter Soldier.  The film is set to be released in two and half months and adding him to the mix so late in the game just seems ill-advised.  They tried putting Hawkeye into Thor at the last minute and it ended up looking extremely awkward.  Nevertheless, I’m looking forward to see Joss Whedon’s interpretation of such a formidable villain in Avengers 2.

Do you think Kretschmann will make a good Baron Wolfgang von Strucker?  Is Strucker a good choice for a villain?  Should he make an appearance in Winter Soldier?  Let us know your opinion in the comment section below.
