While she wasn’t seen very much in the trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Colbie Smulders did a recent interview where she said that she is actually in the movie quite a bit as Agent Maria Hill. Check out the video of the interview clip above and then come back for some thoughts.
Smulders said that she was seen at least once in the trailer, but just from behind. Then she said what most of us already knows – Captain America: The Winder Soldier is mostly about S.H.I.E.L.D. Of course, Robert Redford plays a high ranking S.H.I.E.L.D. official, and it sounds like he will be an antagonist, at least as far as Nick Fury goes.
The movie has been described as Captain America’s struggles in dealing with how the world is, and specifically how the law enforcement agency he works for deals with citizen’s rights in the age of the NSA scandals. As Captain America says in the trailer, it is ruling with fear. That might put him at odds with, not only S.H.I.E.L.D., but the soldiers who have operated through the war with terror, including Maria Hill and Nick Fury.
She also added that she is not scheduled to make a return to Marvel Agents of SHIELD yet, although she would love to come in for a day or two of work here or there for cameo appearances on the show.
