November is sweeps month on television and Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD is going all out for the event. Basically, people have been asking for awhile about whether or not it would tie in to the movies, and it sounds like it will, starting with the aftermath of Thor: The Dark World.
With the exception of Maria Hill in the pilot, Nick Fury in the second episode and Agent Coulson as the leader, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD have only used plot devices (Extremis) and name-dropping to tie itself into the world of the movies. I really don’t mind. I like this better as a spy show with occasional supernatural elements than I think I would have as a super human of the week series.
Of course, a bunch of people disagree, but I am watching this as a Joss Whedon show more than I am watching it as a comic book adaptation, which means the characters and story is more important to me than remaining super connected to the movies.
That will change in November.
In the aftermath of the events chronicled in the feature film Marvel’s ‘Thor: The Dark World,’ Coulson and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. pick up the pieces–one of which threatens to destroy a member of the team, on Tuesday, November 19 (8:00-9:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
Yes, I care more about the story (which has gotten really good in the last three weeks) and characters (some of which still needs some polishing), but damn this has me excited.
