With the announcement of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and the appearance of Thanos at the end of The Avengers, we can definitely see that Marvel is doing their best to expand out into their cosmic properties for future movie adaptations. But it appears that we’ll be getting even more than just those two properties.

Ain’t It Cool News is reporting that a source of theirs has confirmed that the Nova Corps will be a part of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

The Nova Corps, for those who don’t know, is an interplanetary police force comprised of many different alien species. They’re basically the Marvel Universe’s equivalent of the Green Lantern Corps.

If this is true, it certainly makes sense. The protagonist of the last volume of Nova, Richard Rider, worked very closely with the Guardians of the Galaxy throughout his adventures. He was particularly good friends with Star-Lord, trained by Drax, and even had a relationship with Gamora. If the Nova Corps appearance does lead to a solo movie like I think it will, it’s likely that they’ll choose Richard Rider as the character behind the big gold helmet.
