The Ben Affleck as Batman news continues to roll in, and this latest news is even more goodness amongst the desolate wasteland of the Internet imploding upon the original announcement. The word coming down now is that one of the things that convinced Affleck to sign on as Batman is the fact that he will be allowed to help out in the writing process.

Looking at his past work, which includes an Oscar for co-writing Good Will Hunting, an amazing adaptation with Gone Baby Gone and a spectacular script for the Oscar nominated The Town, this could prove to be very good news. The word is that Affleck will have a strong hand in creating his version of the Batman character.

A lot of people who are crying themselves to sleep at night blame Affleck for “ruining Daredevil,” despite the fact that he was NOT the problem with that movie. Just understand the fact that Mark Steven Johnson wrote and directed both Daredevil and Ghost Rider, and I think you see where the problem really rested. Plus, watch the Director’s Cut and you will see that Affleck was actually pretty damn good in the movie.

Affleck will work with David S. Goyer, who wrote Batman Begins and helped create the stories for Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises, on the Batman character for Batman vs. Superman. To me, it is just further proof that – not only is Ben Affleck as Batman not as bad as everyone pretends that it is, but it is actually a good thing when everything is said and done.
