I’ve heard that one before) installment of Clerks has been completed and turned into The Weinstein Company.

So, now the evaluation process begins. It seems like a long shot that the Weinstein brothers would pass on Clerks 3, but if they did, Smith and the gang would have to begin shopping it around to other studios. Hopefully that doesn’t happen or we might end up with some private screening Red State situation on our hands again. Not that there was any problem with that; it was a unique if overpriced way to screen a film and spend some time with its creator, even if the film eventually got a wider release and found quite a following in the home DVD market. But I like my movie tickets in what passes for a “normal” price range these days, and my screening time selections to be plentiful, plus I’d rather shell out more cash to attend one of Smith’s legendary Q&A stints instead. (/tangent)

Mewes was somewhat optimistic when talking to IGN, stating that “Hopefully, we’re going to be shooting Clerks 3 soon.” For this fan, the sooner the better.
