For fans of Tom Hiddleston’s portrayal of Loki, TheĀ Avengers 2 director Joss Whedon has some discouraging news. In a recent podcast, Whedon said that Hiddleston will not reprise his role as the God of Mischief Loki in The Avengers 2.
While I love Hiddleston as Loki, I am kind of glad he is not appearing in the second Avengers movie. Basically, I have thought from the start that the next movie in the series needs to ground the team to earth and have a more realistic threat than aliens and Gods. I think the best villains to The Avengers in the second movie would be the Masters of Evil. Then, in the third movie, Thanos could attack.
That is how The Dark Knight worked out so well. Batman Begins dealt with the League of Shadows, Dark Knight took Batman to a more personal fight, and then Dark Knight Rises brought things back home to the League of Shadows again for the conclusion. The movie needed that break in the middle, and it provided the best movie in the trilogy.
It’s not like Tom Hiddleston fans won’t get plenty of Loki in Thor: The Dark World. What are your thoughts? Are you disappointed to not get Loki in The Avengers 2?
