After the disaster which became the prequel Hannibal Rising, studio execs had to reevaluate their next move on the infamous Hannibal Lecter character. The television show moved forward and has been long in-development for quite some time. Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies, Dead Like Me) stepped up as show-runner and has been putting the pieces together over at NBC ever since. Now, we get a first glimpse of what the series is going to look like and I have to admit that I am quite impressed.

NBC premiered the trailer during this past week’s airing of SNL. Check out the footage below.

The trailer shows tremendous promise, and with Bryan Fuller behind it, the show is definitely placed in capable hands. It’s cool to see Lawrence Fishburne taking part in the new Lecter series as well. Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale, Pusher) has taken on the lead role of the suave “Hannibal the Cannibal.” I cannot wait to see what this guy does with the part. Hugh Dancy will also play the role of Special Agent Will Graham, most notably performed by Edward Norton in Red Dragon.

Hannibal premieres April 4th on NBC!
