J.J. Abrams needs to take few cues from Joss Whedon.
Whedon teased that a “brother-sister act” would be joining the Avengers in his eagerly anticipated sequel to last summer’s smash hit. This, of course, set the internet ablaze with speculation that it could be the heroes Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Well, Whedon flat-out confirmed the rumor to IGN at an event for his Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. television series.
“You know, they had a rough beginning,” Whedon said of the sibling superheroes — who are primarily known for being the offspring of X-Men villain Magneto (err, they’ll need to retcon that). “They’re interesting to me because they sort of represent the part of the world that wouldn’t necessarily agree with The Avengers. So they’re not there to make things easier. I’m not putting any characters in the movie that will make things easier,” Whedon said, revealing the general theme and direction that The Avengers sequel will take.
J.J. Abrams, on the other hand, still won’t admit Khan is the villain in Star Trek Into Darkness — proving once again what a p-whipped slave he is to fanboys (read: grown men who bitch and moan if they find out any detail about a movie before they see it.)
Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are going to be in Avengers 2 — and knowing that before hand will not dampen my enjoyment of the film whatsoever. Whedon knows where to draw the line with spoilers.
