Entertainment Weekly recently revealed a grand total of nine new pictures from Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. The pictures are interestingly all new pictures that we haven’t seen before in any of the original trailers that have debuted. Each of them will posted here and addressed.

Man of Steel Images

The first image is that of Superman himself alone on what appears to be a deserted street in a small city. This could be him in his hometown of Smallville, Kansas.

Man of Steel Images

Superman (Henry Cavill) in flight.

The second image of the Man of Steel displaying his most famous superpower, flight. The blurred background tells us that he is flying at super-speed, making his exact destination difficult to point out. However, there does appear to be some kind of grass in the background behind him, so he could be flying on the outskirts of a major city, or over a smaller town like Smallville.

Man of Steel Images

Amy Adams, Henry Cavill, Antje Traue

This image is our first look at Zod’s right hand-woman, Faora (Antje Traue). Faora appears to be attacking Lois Lane (Amy Adams), but she is also wearing some sort of colored light helmet or a hologram. Superman (Henry Cavill) is in the background, and it looks like he doesn’t know exactly what’s going on. Neither do we, but it doesn’t look particularly good for Miss Lane.

Man of Steel Images

Laurence Fishburne, Amy Adams

This image is likely a look inside The Daily Planet’s office building, with our first good look at Laurence Fishburne’s Perry White and with Lois Lane (Amy Adams) at his side. Considering that there’s quite a few people around them, and there’s some sort of whiteboard in the background, it’s likely that this is the Planet’s newsroom itself.

Man of Steel Images

General Zod (Michael Shannon)

This is our first really good look at General Zod, complete in his armor and sporting a fearsome snarl. His location doesn’t appear to be clear in this picture, but considering he’s standing next to a pile of wood, and there’s some kind of vat in the background, I’d say that he’s in some kind of warehouse. It’s either that or a strange hardware store. Wherever he is, he look like he means business.

Man of Steel Images

Jor-El (Russell Crowe)

Our next image seems to be a bit more straightforward. Jor-El, father of Superman, appears to be looking off into the distance, with some kind of bright light in the background. He looks very satisfied or pleased with himself. My money is that that this image is of him watching Kal-El’s rocket leave Krypton white his lab starts to go down. There’s also the vague outline of  a woman in the background. This could very easily be Lara, his wife and Superman’s mother.

Man of Steel Images

Jonathan and Martha Kent (Kevin Costner and Diane Lane)

Here we see the Kent’s working on their farm, with Jonathan doing some work on his pickup truck and Martha getting ready to do the laundry. I’m sure that this will be an image of them looking at their son Clark playing off in the distance, while having some sort of conversation about him.

Man of Steel Images

Faora (Antje Traue)

Here we see another image of Faora, but this time we get a better look at her actual armor. Like Zod’s it does look very fearsome,  but for some reason, her suit of armor seems more sparse around the midsection. Maybe this means that hers is designed for greater mobility than Zod’s. Either way she does look more vulnerable to attack.

Man of Steel Images

The final image that EW displayed is that of the the film’s director Zack Snyder working on set with his star, Henry Cavill. From Cavill’s beard and clothing, it appears that they were filming the nomadic part of Clark’s career. We’ve already seen images of him on a boat on fire, so it’s likely the same scene. If we can make a guess from the machine Snyder’s holding, he’s probably showing Cavill how the shot turned out.

I continue to become more excited with every new tidbit for Man of Steel. It keeps looking better and better.

What do you think of these new images? What do you think they depict? Why don’t you just tell us what you think in the comments below?
