If you are a fan of the new A&E drama series Bates Motel, you can relax now knowing it has been renewed for a second season.
According to A&E, the network plans for 10 episodes in season two of the pre-Psycho look at Norman Bates and his mother Norma. Pre-production is scheduled for late 2013 with the second season premiering in 2014.
Vera Farmiga stars as Norma Bates and is great in her role as the controlling mother. Freddie Highmore plays Norman and I honestly do not think they could have gotten a better actor for that part.
Everything from his demeanor to his facial expressions is just perfect as we can picture him as the grown-up Norman played by Anthony Perkins in the movie. The great casting does not end there and that is part of what makes this a terrific show.
Each week viewers are taken back to when Norman was a teenager; although the show takes place in modern times which is a nice touch. We get to see how domineering mother Norma protects her meager son Norman and how their eerily close relationship affects Norman as he turns into a man.
So, if you are a Psycho buff and have not yet tuned in to Bates Motel, you are definitely missing out. Catch up on the first four episodes now and prepare yourself for another chilling season.
Thank you to A&E, Universal Television and executive producers Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin for a win with this one!
