When Disney announced that they were planning on acquiring the Fox movie studio, one of the big questions was what would happen to the X-Men franchise. While it is exciting to see the mutants appear in Marvel movies, Marvel showed with Spider-Man: Homecoming that they had no problems with erasing history and starting over. One question was whether or not Marvel would ditch everything X-Men to start over.

Those questions included whether or not they would cancel new properties, such as Deadpool, Logan, and the upcoming New Mutants and if they would ultimately cancel the Gambit movie. It sounds like Fox will make Gambit anyway, as the merger still needs to seek approval.

According to Omega Underground, the Gambit production has hired a crew member named Thomas Robinson Harper to serve as the stunt coordinator for the superhero movie. This is huge news for both Fox and Channing Tatum, who is still lined up to portray Gambit.

Harper is a huge name when it comes to stunt coordinating. He served in the same role in Marvel Comics movies such as Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. While Iron Man 2 was critically panned, one thing it had going for it was the stunts and Winter Soldier remains a masterpiece.

The hiring also means that Gambit should be ready to start filming, which is supposed to begin in March. This should also provide a lot of upcoming news, including the cast and possibility of villains and storyline.

Fox has a few Marvel movies lined up, with New Mutants coming first, Deadpool 2 hitting this summer, X-Men: Dark Phoenix coming for the holidays at the end of 2018, and Gambit scheduled for a Feb. 14, 2019 release.
