The first Percy Jackson Sea of Monsters trailer is here and this movie already looks loads better than the first one.
The first movie from the Percy Jackson young adult book series was disappointing. It wasn’t a really bad movie, but it had some problems, especially for fans of the books. The biggest problem was that the bad guy from the first series of the books was not the bad guy in the movie.
In the books, the bad guy is Titan, the father of Zeus, Hades and Poseidon. He wants to come back and get revenge on his kids for locking him away. Our heroes are the demigods, or the children of the Gods and human mates. Percy Jackson is our Harry Potter of this series, the son of Poseidon.
However, in the first movie they made it look like Hades (a very hammy and entertaining Steve Coogan) was the one pulling the strings in order to start a war, whereas in the books, he was as much a victim of Titan as anyone. That would cripple any future installments unless they just ignored the fact in future movies.
In this new Percy Jackson Sea of Monsters trailer, it is clear the bad guy is Titan and Coogan isn’t even in this sequel. More positives for this trailer includes better looking action and the addition of people like Nathan Fillion as Hades and Stanley Tucci as Dionysus.
If Percy Jackson Sea of Monsters can fix the problems that plagued the first movies, this series of books can really have some legs. Check out the Percy Jackson Sea of Monsters trailer and let us know what you think.
