There was a lot of talk after Fede Alvarez made his Evil Dead movie that there would be an Evil Dead sequel to that film and then a movie that combined Jane Levy’s Mia with Bruce Campbell’s Ash for an ultimate team-up against the Deadittes. As cool as that sounds, it doesn’t sound like it will happen at all and that comes from comments that Levy herself made.

“I don’t think they’re gonna make it,” Levy told Arrow in the Head about the sequel. “I mean, they’re always coming up with a new thing- now I hear they’re making a TV show. I was like, what? [Laughs] I think they just like exciting their fans and confusing them. I honestly don’t know, but it doesn’t seem like there’s going to be an Evil Dead 2 anytime soon. At least, not with me in it.”

This isn’t too surprising to tell the truth. While Levy’s Mia was a very interesting character and one that was just different enough from Ash to make the movie unique, she has been outspoken about how much she hated making the movie to begin with.

“It was the worst time of my life,” Jane said in 2012 at the New York Comic Con. “I didn’t have to do much. I was so uncomfortable, in so much makeup. I looked disgusting. I was freezing cold and tired and sad and I wanted to go home.”

While Bruce Campbell said that was a good thing, not everyone is as masochistic as the man who let Sam Raimi torture him for years. So, it Mia won’t be back for an Evil Dead sequel, what might be next for the Evil Dead franchise?

Well, there is that TV show that Levy mentioned. There has been rumors surfacing that Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell might be putting some work into bringing the world of The Evil Dead to the small screen, and with the popularity of horror television these days, that could be very cool.
