When Paul Walker died in a horrible automobile accident before Christmas, many people wondered what it meant to the Fast & Furious franchise, since the seventh movie had already shot a lot of footage. Not to be disrespectful, but many people loved Walker through his character of Brian O’Connor and wondered how the franchise would deal with his death in Fast & Furious 7.

Well, word is that they will deal with it with the utmost of respect.

There were three options: Scrap the entire Fast & Furious 7 movie, find a way to kill off Brian in the movie to explain his absence or somehow keep him in it and let him live. They chose to let him live.

According to sources, Brian O’Connor will not die in Fast & Furious 7, and many of the scenes that Paul Walker shot will remain in the film. This is wonderful news because, as the movie is about fast cars, watching Paul Walker die on the big screen would have been a bit too crass and would have been very uncomfortable.

According to the sources, Chris Morgan came in and rewrote and reworked the Fast & Furious 7 script and found a way to “retire” Brian’s character. I am assuming that means that Brian, Mia and their child will finally get to ride off into the sunset and live their lives in peace once and for all. Maybe that pardon will finally come.

It is a nice sendoff for Paul Walker’s most popular character and is the best decision they could have come up with.

Fast & Furious 7 hits theaters in April 2015.
