A couple of weeks ago, it was reported that Fox had expressed an interest in moving forward with another Wolverine movie.  At the time it was rather surprising to me since it had been generally believed that Hugh Jackman would hang up his Wolverine claws after next year’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.

However, now Jackman has broken his silence and while he appears to be more than interested in playing Wolverine for an eighth time (yes I’m counting his cameo in First Class), he doesn’t want to do it until they “have a compelling reason to do another one.”  He also went on to say ” I think we’ve got a great opportunity to make something really cool, but it has to be great.”  Wow, thanks for keeping it as vague and non-committal as possible there.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Jackman has expressed his desire for the character to be done right.  Back in 2009, he said he wanted to return his character to a “bad-ass quality” while promoting X-Men Origins: Wolverine.  Instead, what we got was a movie that achieved what I once believed to be impossible and Origins managed to actually be worse than X-Men 3.

At the end of the day, I probably wouldn’t care that much either way.  I’ve been mostly indifferent to the character for the last few years so I doubt whether or not another Wolverine movie gets made will change that.

Should Jackman play Wolverine again?  What do you think would make a good Wolverine story?  Give us your thoughts in the comment section below.
