The Warcraft movie is a thing! I know that’s been established, but I’m still having a hard time believing it. The rumors were stop and go for so long. They got Duncan Jones, they got a release date and they even got their own Viking to play with, but I still wasn’t sold. Now we can really say it with certainty though. This is is going down! How can I be so confident? Lemme tell ya, at Blizzcon we finally got a few details about both the world of the Warcraft movie, as well as its narrative. We also learned perhaps most importantly that the orcs will not be CGI, but humans in make-up, and that according to Jones, they will be telling the story from both sides.

I guess now you probably want to know what story they’ll be telling. Well, we don’t know too much, but what little scraps we got off the Blizzard table are more than enough to feed the flames of anticipation in my tummy. It will be the epic tale of Anduin Lothar and Durotan that shall be translated from Eldritch tomes for our viewing pleasure. There’s so much to this story – love, friendship, sacrifice, betrayal, demons, warlocks, gnomes, orcs, and humans. A lot goes down with each of these characters though they don’t interact much as far as I can remember. Maybe that’ll change in the movie, or maybe I’m remembering it wrong. Either way I think it’s a great jumping off point, and it could make for a fantastic Warcraft movie.

Some absolutely stunning concept art was also released at Blizzcon, so hit the jump below to go see it. It looks great, and it seems like Jones and co. really have a grasp on the world of Warcraft (LOL). I don’t know how hardcore fans of the MMO will feel (I only played the RTS games), but I’m into it. I can’t wait for this to hit theaters. You can count on me being in line for day one.
