Sofia Vergara is a very beautiful woman, but I don’t think that anyone would have described her as a killer. That is, until the latest poster for Machete Kills came out. In the upcoming sequel to Robert Rodriguez’ grindhouse film Machete, Vergara will play a woman named Madame Desdemona who brings new meaning to the phrase ‘femme fatale,’ by sporting a bustier with actual gatling gun turrets over her…….um… well here’s the picture.
This development doesn’t really surprise or shock me that much. In the first five or ten minutes of the original Machete, a woman actually pulled a cell phone from out of her…..um….most private area. Bluntly, this is not a movie that really cares too much about what’s logical or even sane. This Machete franchise, just like Planet Terror, is part of Robert Rodriguez’ love letter to the grindhouse style of filmmaking.
Honestly, it’s not even that original of an idea. Lady Gaga has been parading around with a device a very similar device for some time.
Coincidentally, Gaga actually has a role in Machete Kills.
Machete Kills will debut on September 13 of this year, and will be starring Danny Trejo, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Charlie Sheen, Mel Gibson, Vanessa Hudgens, and many others. It is written and directed by Robert Rodriguez
