So, Jim Jarmusch made a vampire movie. I am sure “normal” readers would just roll their eyes at the news that another vampire movie was coming, but people who know anything about movies knows that Jim Jarmusch is not the kind of person you would connect with a vampire or horror movie. The guy is an art house director who is an acquired taste, and one look at the Only Lovers Left Alive trailer will show you that.

Yeah, Only Lovers Left Alive is a vampire movie – as obviously Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland) and Tilda Swinton are all vampires. So is John Hurt. But, this is not really a movie about vampires hunting to feast on humans or a Van Helsing seeking out vampires. This is more of a movie about people – people who happen to be vampires.

I feel there have been some spectacular vampire movies in recent years that refuses to play by the rules. Let the Right One In, Thirst and Byzantium are perfect examples and it looks like Only Lovers Left Alive will join them. I am sure most people will hate this movie, but this movie is not for “most people.”

I’m pretty excited.
