After Marvel regained the rights to The Punisher, Blade and Daredevil movie franchises, a lot of people assumed that Marvel was going to push ahead with their own versions of the properties, which already have a following. However, at the time they regained the rights, Kevin Feige mentioned they got the rights back for a reason.

That, of course, means that Feige said if people had wanted more movies based on these characters, the studios that had them would have made them.

Well, after a while of thinking, it appears that Feige is looking at the options on using at least two of these characters now.

“We’re trying to figure out what to do with Daredevil now.”

The last thing that Fox heard before letting the Daredevil movie franchise go was that Joe Carnahan wanted to make a 70s Noir styled look and actually released his own sizzle reel. It looked pretty damn cool, but with Marvel and Disney more of a family flavored Marvel universe, that might be out the window.

That means The Punisher is even more difficult.

“Punisher could show up at one point. You know, once we get characters back into the Marvel fold we don’t want to do something right away, we want to do the smart thing at the smart time.”

Honestly, I don’t see any reason why Marvel can’t set up their own movie line like the Marvel Knights series for these darker characters. Lower budget movies under one of Disney’s arms – or maybe create their own PG-13 or R-rated Marvel specialty branch.

I see Daredevil heading to television as one of those new Marvel TV shows is hinted to be working on. Punisher might show up in someone else’s movie. What do you want to see from these established characters?
