New details about the upcoming Finding Nemo sequel, Finding Dory have arrived from this weekend’s D23 Expo. At their panel, Pixar announced that the film will be released in fall of 2015, after 2014’s The Good Dinosaur and summer 2015’s Inside Out.

Director Andrew Stanton will be returning to helm the new sequel, and when he took to the stage, he said that this film will answer many questions about the popular blue fish. The film will go in-depth to explaining about the location of her family and how she lost them. He said that he knew that there would be sequel, but he wanted to wait to make it until he had the right story.

Judging from the basic plot information that they released, it seems that there will again be two narratives at the same time. The film will open up a year after the events of the first film, and Dory is living with Marlin and Nemo. A traumatic event activates Dory’s “homing instincts” which causes her to leave in an attempt to find her family. The film will follow Dory as she journeys to find them, as well as Marlin and Nemo who do their best to find her.

There was also some new casting information coming from the announcement. Albert Brooks will be reprising his role as Marlin alongside, and Dory’s parents Jenny and Charlie will be played by Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy respectively. Modern Family‘s Ty Burrell will be playing a beluga whale named Bailey who helps Dory on her quest.
