A few weeks ago, there was a rumor how the future installments of The Avengers franchise would go. Some sources believed that the sequel to Avengers 2 would see Hulk banished into space, but return with an alien army at his back in Avengers 3, directly from the pages of Planet Hulk and World War Hulk.
However, IGN recently had that rumor shot down by Joss Whedon himself in an interview. Whedon said,
“Well I’m really not supposed to comment, but no, that’s nonsense.”
In fact, Whedon does already have a story prepared. He recently told the Time Out London magazine, “I haven’t even been thinking in terms of superhero movies. The films I’ve been thinking about are The Godfather Part II and The Empire Strikes Back. Those are the stars by which I chart my course.”
This news doesn’t really surprise me. While seeing Hulk and his alien army fighting the entire group of the Avengers would be a great deal of fun, I did think that it would be a bit too ambitious to reach for WWH so soon. I’m still certain that we’ll end up seeing The Infinity Gauntlet story.
What do you think of this news? Why don’t you just tell us what you think in the comments below?

It was a nice idea, but we already saw it in a pretty good animated movie.
