If Disney and J.J. Abrams wants to keep the returning Star Wars cast members a secret, they are finding it impossible with the way they are all talking. Already, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher have all admitted they are returning, only to revert and say they aren’t sure if they are or not. Well, in a recent question and answer session with the fans, Mark Hamill talks Star Wars and once again admits he is coming back – kind of.

Mark Hamill talks Star WarsThe fans asked him about the movies, and he said that he never dreamed he would be back. He said he always figured that if there was more movies it would be about different characters. He said that, when George Lucas wanted to talk to him, Fisher and Ford that he figured it might just be for promotional purposes. Then he revealed more new info.

“I’ve only had one creative meeting about the new films, but I do remember saying, ‘We’ve got to find a proper balance between CGI and old school [FX].”

That says two things. First, it says that Hamill has had a creative meeting about Star Wars: Episode VII. That tells me he is in it. Second, he said that he asked for more practical effects to go with the CGI, which is music to my ears. I am one of the few who don’t mind the prequels and actually liked Revenge of the Sith, but the lack of practical effects really hurt those movies. A nice mix would make them feel more natural and less synthetic.

Hamill actually had a great comparison.

“When you have too much CGI and the clouds are CGI and the trees are CGI and the buildings are CGI, you’re getting to a point where the figure in the shot is like a hybrid of an animated film and live-action. And I want it to have an organic look so that we don’t get into Roger Rabbit territory. But I don’t imagine that the priority is what I want!”

Finally, he said that he would like to see Luke Skywalker be more of the Jedi Master, ala Obi Wan Kenobi in the first movie, “heavy on the mind tricks, less on the lightsaber duels.”
