The other day we covered the rumors of a new suit for Steve Rogers in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Courtesy of some on-set Captain America The Winter Soldier photos that have been posted online, it seems that we actually do have confirmation that this suit is real.
The new photos that have leaked online show both Captain America (Chris Evans) and the Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) in some kind of industrial station, with not a lot of action going on. However, Cap is wearing his helmet so they may be actually anticipating some action.
In these photos, you can clearly see the silver stripes on the upper chest that were a hallmark of the Heroic Age suit that Steve Rogers wore while working as the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. He first donned the new suit after the events of Siege, and wore the suit for quite a while until he was forced to don his classic gear and reclaim his one true role as Captain America.
In this second picture, it seems that Scarlet is actually attached to some kind of harness. I can’t think of what exactly they’d be using it for.
If this does end up being Cap’s public uniform in the movie, I’ll be rather disappointed. I love the suit that he wore in the Avengers, and while I do like his Heroic Age suit, it just can’t hold a candle to the classic. However, I think it’s much more likely that this could be more of a stealth-suit that he would wear for any covert missions. I just can’t see Marvel having him ditch the classic suit so soon.
What do you think of the suit we’re seeing in these new photos? Are you displeased that the classic suit hasn’t made an appearance yet? Why don’t you just tell us what you think in the comments below?
