Not too long ago, Marvel released a box set of Blu-Ray discs called Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One – Avengers Assembled. In that box set, there was quite a bit of concept art and some stills of the projects to come, including stills from Thor 2, the Ant-Man test footage, and some concept art for a new Captain America uniform in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Steve Rogers’ uniform for “The Heroic Age.”
The concept art we see here does look similar to the outfits we’ve already seen Cap wear in the Avengers movies, but there are some noticeable changes here. The helmet looks the same, and they brought back the chinstrap from Cap’s solo movie. The stripes on the midsection are still there, but they’re harder to see in this image. One of the bigger things that’s noticeable is the set of fingerless gloves along with what appears to be a pair of white stripes near the top of Cap’s chest.
In my opinion, this new Captain America uniform looks very similar to the suit that Steve Rogers wore after Captain America: Reborn up until the events of Fear Itself forced him to put on his classic duds again. If that’s the case, I’m more than a bit surprised that they chose to use inspiration from a suit design that’s not even four years old at this point. You’d think that they’d stick with the classic material. The suit in The Avengers didn’t look that bad anyway!
What do you think about this new Captain America uniform design? Do you think that it looks good? Would you rather see some more of the classic design? Why don’t you just tell us what you think in the comments below?
