If you can’t wait for Star Trek Into Darkness to come to theaters, you’re not alone. So many people were trying to purchase their Star Trek Into Darkness pre-sales IMAX tickets in advance that both the BFI and ODEON online booking systems crashed due to the online traffic.
The film, directed by J.J. Abrams and starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and Benedict Cumberbatch, brought ten times more pre-sales than the systems were able to take. The last film to cause such a stir was The Dark Knight Rises back in 2012. It seems that the upcoming Star Trek sequel has quite the following anticipating it’s release, making it a force to be reckoned with in the mainstream media.
As a fan of Benedict Cumberbatch, as well as Chris Pine and the first Star Trek movie, I am extremely excited for the movie coming out next month. I personally believe the current franchise has brought Star Trek to a whole new generation, seeing as how the recent films are how I came to become a fan.
What do you think of the new Star Trek franchise? Are you excited for the upcoming film?
Star Trek Into Darkness hits theaters May 17.
