I remember when the first trailer for The Fast and the Furious hit screens. Fast cuts of Vin Diesel whooping ass, cars flying down roads at bullet speeds, while the joyful sounds of Limp Bizkit played over the images.
That was 1999 for you. If you would have told me nearly 15 years later this franchise would still exist, I would have laughed at you. Yet, here we are and Fast & Furious 6 is on the way.
It’s not over yet though. According to Vin Diesel via his Facebook page, Fast and Furious 7 will film this Summer. Here is the statement below:
There was an early screening in LA this week of Fast 6. The crowd reaction was surreal… and their demand for the continuation was powerful… It’s remarkable to think I first embodied this character in 1999… and the evolution continues. P.s. Filming begins this summer in LA, where it all started… talk about a studio in sync with the audience…
This is definitely good news in regards to the quality of the 6th film. Especially, if studios are confident enough already to fast-track the next movie. The Fast and the Furious franchise is the greatest guilty pleasure at the box-office right now. As long as they keep making solid entries, I’ll keep running back.
No director has yet to be announced for Fast and Furious 7. Justin Lin has remained on board since Tokyo Drift, so it’s probably safe to assume he’ll stay in the driver’s seat.
Would you like to see a Fast and Furious 7 movie?
