For those who don’t know, after Rob Zombie releases Lords of Salem this summer, he is jumping into a new genre and will shoot his first non-horror movie. Rob Zombie has given a new Broad Street Bullies update on the movie based on the true story of the 1970’s Philadelphia Flyers professional hockey team, a group hell-bent on creating havoc on the ice.

Not much in the way of Broad Street Bullies update news has come recently due to Zombie working hard on the promotion and release of Lords of Salem, but there was finally some new news that broke today.

In an interview with Coming Soon, Zombie finally gave a Broad Street Bullies update and said that the script is finished.

I just finished it. That was an epic battle because that was the first time I had to really research something. There’s no fiction in it, it’s all true. It was a year of research, my God, I read every f–king book and, obviously, the game ends with game 6 against the Bruins when they win the cup. I must have watched game 6 a thousand f–king times until I had it memorized. It’s a pretty epic script.

For those who have never heard of them, the Broad Street Bullies were part of the Philadelphia franchise shortly after joining the NHL as an expansion team in 1967. They started to bring a new rough play into the NHL that worked for them because they won back-to-back championships in 1974 and 1975.

There is no studio for the movie yet, but Zombie said not to worry because it will have a home soon, although he did not mention exactly where it might end up. He said there have been a number of offers for it, but he just needs to figure out which one will be the best fit for him.
