It wasn’t a surprise that none of the three new releases took out the double shot powerhouse of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Guardians of the Galaxy. However, it was a slight surprise to see the Turtles remain over the Guardians, especially considering the positive word of mouth for the Guardians and the weak word of mouth for the Turtles.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles finished in first with $28.4 million while Guardians of the Galaxy took second with $24.7 million. There still might be hope that when the final numbers are in on Monday, Guardians could still pass the Turtles.

The Expendables 3 came in fourth place with a disappointing $16.2 and fell behind Let’s Be Cops, which made $17.7 million but actually finished the weekend with $26.1 million thanks to a Wednesday opening. The other new movie, The Giver, finished fifth with $12.7 million.
