Bryan Fuller, Creator of some of television’s most inspired and creative shows, was honored this last week at the Saturn Awards. Fuller received the Dan Curtis Legacy Award, named in honor of the Producer/Writer & Director of the ground breaking supernatural soap opera Dark Shadows. He was presented the award by Actress Kristin Chenoweth, who appeared in his series Pushing Daisies, about a pie maker with the power to bring the dead back to life (but only for one minute, lest someone else would die). In addition, his newest television series Hannibal tied with the science fiction series Revolution for Best Network Television Series.

Hannibal has been met with both moderate ratings and acclaim, being called one of the best shows you’re probably not watching by The Daily Herald, Business Insider and numerous other news outlets. Deserving the award for reaching new heights in cinematic television, Bryan Fuller pushes the envelope with the series based on the books by Thomas Harris about a Cannibalistic Psychiatrist.  Hannibal Lecter first made his theatrical mark on the big screen through Sir Anthony Hopkins in the film adaptation of Silence of the Lambs, and has now been taken over by Mads Mikkelsen, who has his own compelling take on the ‘Good’ Doctor on NBC.

In an interview with Shock Till You Drop, Fuller dropped hints on what to expect in season 3. Season 2 ended on a devastating note, with half the main character’s lives hanging in the balance; the ultimate in tv cliff hangers. We will likely see a return of Mason Verger in the coming season (along with his new face), as well as some new characters, including Francis Dolarhyde of Red Dragon, and  Lady Murasaki from Hannibal Rising. The Creator has stated that he has a full 7 season run mapped out, and is fighting to obtain the rights to the Silence of the Lambs story line, which is still held tight by MGM. Only time will tell whether MGM will concede to putting the lotion in his basket, and unleash the characters Buffalo Bill and Clarice Starling.
