Maybe one of the funnest things to do when looking at the upcoming slate of comic book movies is speculating on rumors. Well, for people who like rumors, Latino Review is the king of the comic book movie rumors and some new Marvel rumors they broke on Wednesday is a very interesting. Zac Efron has been offered a role in an upcoming Marvel production.
For some people, that might seem crazy. Seriously, it hasn’t been that long since Efron was singing songs and dancing in the abysmal High School Musical movies. However, if you ignore that fact, the kid is a pretty dang good actor. Plus, don’t discount Disney kids – Ryan Gosling was a Disney kid once upon a time.
Iron Fist / Marvel
Of course, the only news here is Zac Efron was sent a script and offered a role in the project. See, I keep saying project because that is how Latino Review put it. That means it could be a movie, a TV show or one of the Netflix shows. My money is on one of the Netflix shows.
The only new movie I know about that will cast a new hero is Doctor Strange, and no way does Efron fit the role of physician Stephen Strange. Now, unless they want him to be a bad guy in the next Captain America or Thor movie, I don’t see anything else for him there outside of a minor hero added in like Falcon was in the last Captain America movie.
So, Latino Review guessed at Matt Murdoch/Daredevil. I don’t think that will be it either, if for no other reason than I can’t see Efron as an attorney either. So, that leaves Iron Fist – and I can see Zac Efron as Danny Rand, a rich kid with mystical powers.
Then again, maybe they want him to join the Agent Carter TV show. However, with the monster success of Neighbors, I expect they want him in something bigger than a supporting role. Who would you want to see Efron portray in a Marvel movie?
