There are lots of award ceremonies each year, but outside of the Razzies there might not be one as fun as the Jameson Empire Awards. Empire Magazine awarded their awards tonight, as voted on by the readers of what is, by far, the best magazine on the market about movies.

Sam Mendes took home three Jameson Empire Awards, including Best Director and Best Movie. This makes sense because these awards are based on fan favorites, not on critics’ choices. Skyfall was easily the most successful British movie of the year, as well as one of the best Bond movies in ages.

Dame Helen Mirren won the Empire Legend award, which she received from Tom Hiddelston. Mirren is the second person to win the Legend award, following Tim Burton, who took home the award last year.

Danny Boyle took home the Empire Outstanding Contribution award for his career achievements. The Hobbit took home the award for Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film and Martin Freeman won the Jameson Best Actor award for his performance in that movie.

Ted won the Best Comedy award, Headhunters won Best Thriller, and Dredd 3D won The Art of 3D award. The award for Best British Film went to Sightseers.
