Now Firefly fans have more to bitch about when they lament the lack of a Serenity sequel, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters is getting another installment… probably.
It’s only been two months since the film flopped and studio Paramount is already talking about making Witch Hunters into a franchise. Presumably because of its strong performance overseas. So if you like badly acted, campy action B-movies, then you probably watched the first film. And this is good news for you.
I can only see this happening as a direct-to-DVD affair a la Death Race. You know, sequels with different actors, lower budgets, etc. There’s no chance in Hell of Jeremy Renner returning for a Hansel and Gretel 2 with all that sweet Hawkeye dough he’s rolling.
Meanwhile Bill Watterson still isn’t doing Calvin and Hobbes, the manuscript for Catch-23 still hasn’t been found, and no one’s heard anything from Dave Chappelle. But now we might get that Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters sequel that everyone’s been clamoring for.
Calvin and Hobbes: Witch Hunters, now there’s a million-dollar idea worthy of a franchise. Or maybe not.
