With Ultron as the villain in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Scarlet Witch appearing as well (played by Elizabeth Olsen), longtime Marvel readers wondered of The Vision was far behind. It sounds like the synthetic Avenger might be in the movie as well and Paul Bettany will play him.

This is interesting and might reveal a lot about how Ultron will come to be. See, in the comics, Ultron was created by Hank Pym (the Michael Douglas character from the upcoming Ant-Man movie), but that will not be the case in the Marvel movie world.

Now, the thought was that Ultron would either be a weapon that SHIELD was responsible for or something that Tony Stark accidentally invents. With this news, I am certain Tony Stark will be the man responsible. That is because Paul Bettany is the voice of JARVIS, Stark’s AI system/helper/annoyance. If Bettany is playing The Vision then it seems he will be Stark’s AL buddy come to life.

It is not known if Stark will turn JARVIS into The Vision or if Ultron will create Vision to be his lackey like in the comics, only to have Vision turn on his creator and join The Avengers. It is also unknown if Scarlet Witch will end up romantically involved with the robot or not.

If anything, Paul Bettany as The Vision should prove that Agent Coulson isn’t The Vision.
