So, just a moment ago I was complaining about the fact that Jurassic Park was being rushed into production without a director. Amazingly, moments after I posted the rant, Frank Marshall tweeted the lucky winner to handle directing dutiesAnd the winner is…

Colin Trevorrow!

For those who are unfamiliar, Trevorrow also directed the hilarious Sci-Fi Romantic Comedy Safety Not Guaranteed. He definitely is an odd choice, but one that offers many possibilities. Here is the statement from Frank Marshall below:

Thrilled to have director on JP4, Colin Trevorrow, an exciting young filmmaker who understands and respects the world that is Jurassic Park.

We will have more details as soon as they come. For now, it appears we officially have another Jurassic Park headed our way. I’m still skeptical about this project though. Hopefully Trevorrow is an inspired choice. Now let us see which cast members return to the Park.

UPDATE:

Here is a statement from Deadline, who got the scoop:

Why Trevorrow? He met with the studio and filmmakers, and they felt he was a good match for the material, having grown up a huge fan of the trilogy and part of a new generation of directors steeped in all things dinosaur. They felt he would preserve and protect the characters in the story they created.

What do you think about Colin Trevorrow as Director?
