When Captain America: The First Avenger was released back in 2011, Hayley Atwell became an almost immediate fan favorite as Agent Peggy Carter.  Her character had become so popular, that Marvel entertained the idea that Atwell could star in her own Agent Carter TV series but up until this point nothing had come of it.

That may have changed has a (unconfirmed) rumor has suggested that Atwell has officially signed a deal to star in the prospective series.  It should be noted however, that the first publication to break this story is the notoriously unreliable tabloid The Daily Mirror, so for the time being this rumor should still be considered a rumor.

I have to be honest though, I’ll probably be a little surprised if the series does end up seeing the light of day.  It’s been going on three years since Captain America: The First Avenger came out and I had assumed that in that time any interest by Marvel to expand on her character had mostly died out with the exception of her One-Shot film.  Also, given the rather shaky ratings of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., I kind of figured they might have wanted to slow down a bit with their TV show adaptations.

That being said though, Agent Carter was actually one of my favorite characters in the film as well and I would more than likely sit down to watch the pilot if and when it actually airs.
