Before The Avengers, X-Men and Spider-Man, before even Blade, The Shadow came to big screens in 1994, bringing one of comic book’s most legendary superheroes back to life. Now, 20 years later, Shout! Factory is releasing The Shadow Blu-ray in a new Collector’s Edition, bringing this cult classic back to you.

Directed by Russell Mulcahy (The Highlander) and starring Alec Baldwin, the movie is a 30s period action movie as The Shadow battles Shiwan Khan, a man determined to build a nuclear bomb.

The Shadow originally appeared  in pulp novels in the ’30s, pre-dating even Superman and Batman, as a crime fighting vigilante with psychic powers. As a wealthy man in his secret identity, it is clear that Bob Kane and Bill Finger based their character of The Batman on The Shadow. It was adapted into a radio drama before hitting comic strips, comic book and graphic novels.

The film starred Baldwin as The Shadow, John Lone (The Last Emporer) as Khan, as well as a solid supporting cast including Penelope Ann Miller, Peter Boyle, Ian McKellen, Tim Curry, and Jonathan Winters.

The Shadow Blu-ray will include a new high definition transfer, new interviews with Director Russell Mulcahy, Alec Baldwin, Penelope Ann Miller, Production Designer Joseph Nemec, III., Director Of Photography Stephen H. Burum and Writer David Koepp, and the theatrical trailer.

The Shadow Blu-ray hits stores on Feb. 25, 2014 and you can buy it from Amazon.com right here.
