Kevin Smith and Zack Snyder did a podcast together and they talked about the upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie. In the podcast, Smith mentioned how he saw the new Batsuit and loved what he saw. Here is what Smith had to say.
“I saw the costume, more than that I saw him [Ben Affleck] in the costume…I don’t want to give anything away cause that is up to them and stuff, but I am going to say this…I instantly bear hugged him,” Smith said. “You have not seen this costume in film before. Because every other movie has done this matrixy black armor thing…There wasn’t a single nipple on this f*cking suit man. I think everyone is gonna be like ‘Holy Shit!’ We haven’t been down this path before. Even the Hardest core ‘f*ck this movie’ person will be like ‘alright, I’m ready!”
It is no surprise that Smith is supporting Affleck in this because – be honest – Affleck is his boy. Smith is the person who reminded the nation that “Affleck was the bomb in Phantoms, yo.” Affleck has appeared in some of Smith’s best movies, including Mallrats, Chasing Amy and Dogma before the world turned on the actor for hooking up with J-Lo and starring in Gigli.
But, the fact is that we really don’t need Smith to tell us this movie could be great. Affleck is a perfect choice for Batman, critics be damned. He has redeemed himself over and over again, both directing movies like Argo and The Town, and acting in movies like Hollywoodland and The Company Men.
No offense to Christian Bale, but it doesn’t take an Oscar winning actor to put on a mask and talk like you have throat cancer. What matters is who can pull of Bruce Wayne, and while Bale was great, Affleck can do that in his sleep as well.
I am glad the new Batsuit doesn’t have nipples though.
