Charlie Hunnam recently left the cast of the film adaptation of EL James’s 50 Shades Of Grey. This is understandable to me. I don’t see much of a difference between this and Twilight aside from the replacement of vampires with slightly outside of the mainstream sexuality (which is basically vampires).

Hunnam is not just some dumb hunk. He’s also a writer and, evidently the creative minds behind the film liked his first wave of notes, but then he wanted more changes to be made to Kelly Marcel’s script for the Sam Taylor-Johnson directed movie. This did not fly with the folks over at Universal. There were other factors as well. Sons Of Anarchy is still shooting, so there was almost no time for Hunnam between jobs. Now the question remains who will star next to Dakota Johnson in the upcoming 50 Shades Of Grey film.

Universal has a few targets on the shortlist. Jamie Dornan, former Calvin Kline model and sheriff on Once Upon A Time, seems to be a frontrunner. He’s handsome, and he has a nicely cultured Irish accent. I could imagine him as a billionaire sexman.

Another man they are considering is British television star Christian Cooke. The dark horse in the race is True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgard, whom I think might actually just be the real life Christian Grey. I don’t know who else he could be in real life if not that. He’s even sexy as an eco-terrorist in The East.

Robert Pattinson and Garret Hedlund are favorites of the studio, but have expressed absolutely zero interest. I’m not so into the 50 Shades Of Grey movie (admittedly I never read the books), but I hope they can get it together soon. They start shooting in about three weeks, and I know a lot of my mom’s friends will be really sad if the production process grinds to a halt.
